29 April 2026 - Official Groundbreaking of the Thu Thiem Administrative Center

Overview

On 29 April 2026, the official groundbreaking ceremony of the Thu Thiem City Center Square and Administrative Center was held in Thu Thiem, coinciding with the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (30 April 1975 - 30 April 2026).

Developer Sun Group and city leaders marked the occasion with the simultaneous launch of two strategic projects, a defining moment in the ongoing development of the Thu Thiem new urban area.

Two Projects Breaking Ground Together

The ceremony launched two major projects at the same time:

1. Thu Thiem City Center Square and Administrative Center Project - developed by Sun Group at the heart of Thu Thiem
2. Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line 2, Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem Segment - delivering seamless transit connectivity for the entire district

Impressive Scale: 46.7 Hectares at the Core of Thu Thiem

The Thu Thiem Administrative Center spans 46.7 hectares at the very core of the new urban area. Key components include:

• 33-storey administrative tower
• Theatre and conference hall with approximately 2,000 seats
• Central square, scenic lake, and urban park
• Large-scale underground parking system

Total investment is approximately VND 29,600 billion under a PPP - BT structure, with an expected completion date of 2028.

Prime Location - The "Heart" of Thu Thiem

The new Administrative Center is positioned as the "heart" of the entire Thu Thiem precinct. A short walk away, it connects directly to several high-end developments already established in the area:

• Empire City - premium mixed-use urban complex
• Metropole Thu Thiem - residences and retail
• Zeit River Thu Thiem - prominent riverside project

The combination of the Administrative Center and Metro Line 2 is expected to significantly boost real estate values across the district.

A Historic Milestone for Ho Chi Minh City

The groundbreaking fell on the eve of the 51st anniversary of Liberation Day (30 April 1975 - 30 April 2026), carrying strong symbolic weight. Thu Thiem - once an area long awaiting transformation - is steadily becoming one of Ho Chi Minh City's most modern financial and administrative centers.
